OUR VALUES: SOCIAL CONSCIOUSNESS
At The Pop-Up Chapel Co., everything we do follows our five key values; sustainability, simplicity, inclusivity, social consciousness, and evolution. We’ve spent the past few weeks exploring what those mean and how we bring them to life for each and every Chapel. In this blog we’re going to dive into social consciousness. What we mean when we say social consciousness is our dedication to being a valuable contributor to the communities we work within, and using our platform to support the community and create positive change in our society. We strive to educate ourselves on what is going on not only in the wedding landscape but the world around us. The Chapel aims to do our part to make that world a better place for everyone whether it be through the vendors we work with, the content we share online, or the charitable donations we make. In past weeks we’ve touched on sustainability and how we make that a priority at the Chapel and that is definitely a part of being socially conscious and aware of our impact on the planet. The same goes for inclusion and how our language and the content we put out has the goal of furthering equality and representation. One piece that we have yet to dive into is our dedication to charitable endeavors.
Since our inaugural Chapel in 2017 The Pop-Up Chapel has been committed to giving back to our community. We donate $300 from every single couple that books an elopement with us to a local charity. Over the past 4 years that has accumulated to over $55,000 to charities like Women’s College Hospital, Black Health Alliance, Evergreen Children’s Garden, United Way, and many, many more. We also partner with vendors such as Courage Cookies, who are actively involved in community projects and truly have a positive impact. Courage Cookies started in 2020 during the pandemic and to date they have donated a staggering $27,000 to a variety of amazing causes.
